'tis the season

Each year, several of the local Chicago libraries hire me to conduct card making classes for the general public.  Each class brings me a little closer to knowing more about my new Chicago home, as well as affords me the opportunity to make new friends.

The first project this year was a simple little cash holder and envelope.  Starting with Designer Series Paper, we punched a semi circle, scored the paper twice, then folded up the bottom and sealed the sides to create a pocket. We made a simple belly band to hold the folds closed and colored a stamped image with markers.  At the last minute, we thought it would be neat to add a lacy edge to our project.

It was fun to get everyone excited about making a custom envelope for their money holder.  We chose plain white card stock and made a fabulous envelope using the new Envelope Punch Board.  It was so easy!!  We measured our money holder, then found the recommended envelope size on the handy dandy reference table. We followed the cutting, punching and scoring directions, and had a custom envelope in less than five minutes!

For more information on this project, send your request to itisjaye@gmail.com, or comment below. There's still time to make a stack of these and slip your money gifts inside!

Thanks for visiting me and happy stamping!

PIROUETTE-ING IT!!

OH HOW I LOVE PINK PIROUETTE!
 ******************************
It's yummy, feminine, soft and makes me happy.  Mother's Day is coming soon, and since I'm going to an event tomorrow, and wanted to take swaps, I decided on this card.  A swap is when demonstrators design a card front and then trade with other demonstrators to share ideas.

Using the Big Shot, the Pink Pirouette layer is embossed with the Petals A Plenty embossing folder, then the corners rounded.  The small butterflies are punched with the Bitty Butterfly punch, then embossed in the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; and lastly, the larger butterfly was cut with Fan Fair Designer Series paper and the Big Shot Beautiful Butterflies die.

Here's a close up of the Butterflies.  I think the pearl embellishments just polish them off perfectly. I used the Word Window and the Modern Label punches for the sentiment and layer; then finished up with some vintage lace trim.

Thanks for looking!

Happy Stamping!

EASTER GREETINGS

I had so much fun creating special order Easter cards for a friend this week.

This one is my favorite.

I find myself reaching for Whisper White cardstock when creating layers and adding ribbon.  I especially like this card because it uses Very Vanilla as a compliment to the yellow eggs in the DSP.  By the way, this pattern is from the Birds of a Feather DSP; the button is from the Artisan Embellishments Kit, and the accent color is Marina Mist.

Contact me (itisjaye@gmail.com) for a list of supplies, cutting measurements and directions.

Thanks for stopping by; Happy Easter and, as always, Happy Stamping!

SO THANKFUL

I am thankful to the dozens of new viewers who chose to visit my blog this past month and also to those who have chosen to participate in the new PAPER PUMPKIN MONTHLY CRAFT CLUB. Not only am I sending them a cool thank you gift/crafting item, but I created a card to let them know how much I appreciate them.

The inside is blank so I can write a special personal message to each and every one of my new wonderful customers.

This is an elegant, but simple card using Certainly Celery, Whisper White and Daffodil Delight card stocks; Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper; the Vintage Verses Stamp Set  offered during Sale-A-Bration and my new favorite punch, the Bitty Butterfly, offered in the Spring catalog. The card is embellished with those fun Basic Rhinestone Jewels, and Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon. The Vintage Faceted Designer Button is tied with White Bakers twine, which I rolled over my Daffodil Delight classic stampin' pad to tint it a little.

Drop me a line at: itisjaye@gmail.com for a list of the supplies, as well as sizes and assembly directions.
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Stamping!

SWEET STITCHES

SWEET STITCHES !!!!

Here's a cute little sundress made with Stampin' Up! fabric and ribbon trim I had here on hand.  I love how the patterns in the package complement each other.  There are so many other patterns available and the cost for a package of extra wide fat quarters with (3) coordinated designs is unbelievably reasonable.  KUDOS to the site below for posting ideas and free sewing patterns, including step by step instructions for beginners!

TEA FOR TWO ANYONE?

Stampin' Up! has been making a difference for 25 years and began sharing their anniversary celebration with all of us in the 2013 Spring catalog.  It is just full of new products, awesome ideas and super yummy colors.

Here's a card I created with some of those items, using 3/8" Striped Melon Mambo Organdy Ribbon; Tea for Two Designer Series paper and various punches; the Vine Street embossing folder; the Pretty Petites stamp set, and some pearls.

I love white on white.  The Whisper White top layer is embossed, then attached to the Whisper White card stock base. The flower was punched in 3 different sized layers and stacked  together with a dimensional and a pearl on top.  The entire embellishment is attached to gorgeous Melon Mambo organdy ribbon, cut in two different lengths.

The sentiments are stamped in Certainly Celery and Marina Mist; punched out and attached together with a little glue.  I punched a hole in the top one, attached a tiny pearl and dangled them under the flower, using Natural Linen Thread.

The inside is simple, one large sentiment from a soon-to-be released stamp set, "Just Thinking" in Marina Mist ink.

I think it says it all.

You can order the supplies for this card on my link below, and try making one for yourself.  It was fun and super easy.  If you need help, drop a line and I'll send you step by step instructions.
