LOOKING FOR THE "WOW" FACTOR

Hi Stampers!

I checked our Stampin' Up! online site looking for inspiration a few weeks ago.  I wanted a simple card with a huge "Wow" factor that I could take to my beginners' card making class.  I was not disappointed when I came across an inlaid embossing technique posted by Chris Kolly.  I just could not take my eyes off the beautiful, finished effect of attaching punched items to card stock and then running it through the Big Shot in an embossing folder.  The end result is that the items appear to be actually inlaid into the card stock.

Chris used Real Red and Pretty in Pink card stock, our full hearts punch, our Hearts to Heart punch and the Big Shot Lattice Embossing Folder.  All punched pieces are attached with Snail Adhesive and then placed into the embossing folder for that wonderful expensive custom look.
I finished the front of the card with "Because I Care" sentiment from the set of the same name and popped it up with a dimensional and a small heart.  Too cute, huh?

Other stamps in this new set are just right for that special sentiment.

A CARD WITH PIZZAZZ!

Hi Stampers!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Here's a new creation using the Paisley Prints stamp set in the Holiday Mini Catalog (wood mount#120817) and the yummiest Stampin' Up! in-color ever!  Pear Pizzazz!

Very few materials used for this card, as you can see.

The Very Vanilla layer is embossed with the Big Shot Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder #120175; then the corners are trimmed using our corner rounder #119871, and it is attached to the Pear Pizzazz card base.    Next I used the leaf stamp from the Paisley Prints set and stamped it in Pear Pizzazz ink on a smaller piece of Very Vanilla, rounded those corners and attached it to a slightly larger Pear Pizzazz layer.  Folded up a little strip of 1/2" Pear Pizzazz poly stitched ribbon #119265; attached an Old Olive brad from our Brights collection #119740 and there you have it!

This set is awesome - check out all the stamps in it.

As always, you can find any of these items on my website: www.jayecatalano.stampinup.net.  Or email me itisjaye@gmail.com for more information.  Thanks for looking.  See you soon.

SWEET AND SIMPLE HOLIDAY CARD

I'm always looking for a versatile Holiday card - one that I can send to any one of our friends and relatives.  We try to be sensitive to folks of different beliefs and this one fits the bill.

Bashful Blue card stock was run through the Big Shot machine using the Petals A Plenty embossing folder (#1168240) and the resist technique (see previous post on my blog).  Page 20 of Idea Book and Catalog features individual stamps for under $10.00.  I chose the Simple Snowflake stamp (#115554) and VersaMark ink, placing the image into the flat center of the card.  I embossed the image with Irridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss powder (#101930), and trimmed the corners with our Scallop Trim Corner punch (#118870).

The finished layer was mounted onto card stock with a cute little bow (both in Marina Mist).

SPECIAL PACKAGING FOR SPECIAL FOLKS

Upon completion of that special gift for that special someone, who wants to put it in an ordinary gift bag?  My sentiments exactly, so I decided to explore the possibility of making my own gift box and wrapping paper!  What did I discover?  I could not only make my own gift box, but by using two-sided designer series paper, it was automatically gift wrapped!

Cute huh?   I decorated this one with grosgrain ribbon and little hearts that I punched out with the Heart to Heart and Full Heart punches.  All different size hearts in two colors and layered together!  The point on the bottom of the large heart in the middle sits on a Dimensional and pops right up!
Here's an empty one to give you a better look.  The edge is fancied up with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch.

Here's how it's done.  (Pictures are of different stages of several projects.) Start out with two pieces of 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper.  The two-sided paper is so much nicer because the inside and outside of the top and bottom are interchangeable and match!

Fold each end toward the middle.  Turn and fold the other sides the same way.

Cut the folds on two sides as shown - cut up to the fold above only.

Fold those four squares down flat and put 4 pieces of Sticky Strip on each tab (Sticky Strip works better than anything else to maintain the integrity of the box).

Then assemble by putting the smaller squares inside and the larger one on the outside.  Rub all 4 sides of each square to ensure a good seal.

Make the bottom exactly the same way, except to ensure a nice fit, trim just a smidgeon (is that a word?) off all four sides.  Illustration below shows an example of how much I trimmed.

As you can see the boxes can be decorated in so many ways.  The one below has a scanned and blown up image from the Love You Much Stamp Set and the double bow is made with two different color ribbons.  I soaked our pink glass beads in Crystal Effects, then poured over the finished bow for a fancier look.  It does spot the ribbon somewhat, but it's worth it for the Bling look!

Email me at itisjaye@gmail.com for a list of supplies used on any of these boxes.  Or visit my web-site at www.jayecatalano.stampinup.net for more cool ideas.  Thanks for looking and make it a great day!

"WITCH" WAY IS THE CANDY?

Here's Stampin' Up!'s new "Fang-Tastic" stamp set.  It has 10 stamps in it and every one of them are cute as a button!

Using this stamp set; a few other supplies,

and some imagination,

I created this cute Halloween card.

I used Perfect Plum, Basic Black, and Pumpkin Pie papers; then used the Scallop Trim Border punch to make fancy corners.  Our wonderful Versamark ink was used to emboss the front.

Close up of embossing.

It has a "Sweet Treat" cup in the center filled with candy corn.  The trick folks, was keeping my husband out of the bag of candy before I could finish the card!

The inside of the card is stamped with the little witch, her cat, her broom, and some bats.  I used StazOn ink, then water colored the images using our aqua painter and classic ink.  Oh, and yes that's a secret door on the left.  That way you can get the candy out without mangling the card!  Also, you can eat the candy you put in there for someone, and then have the opportunity to replace it!

All supplies are available on my website:

LOVE THIS LOOK!

Hi Stampers!

I love the Stampin' Up! embossing folders that are used in the Big Shot machine, and have learned a new technique recently.  It's called Embossing Folder Resist and it's a technique using a block in the center of the folder, so that the embossing is made on the card stock layer in a particular pattern.  Here is a picture of a thank you card I made, using the Petals Aplenty embossing folder,  Versamark, white embossing powder and one of our new corner punches, "Scallop Trim Corner".

I made a round template out of cardboard and placed in on the embossing folder.  As you can see, the template kept the folder from embossing in the center of the card stock.  I then placed the embossed layer on a 7" x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock, scored in the middle at 3-1/2".

Here's a closer look at the embossing, as well as the corner trim.

It was fun trying different patterns, as well as corners. Below is one using gold embossing powder and the new corner punch, "Pinking Hearts Corner".

I think the gold is beautiful.

If you like this Elegant Thank You card, contact me on my website for a list of supplies, as well as detailed instructions on how to make.

Have a great day everyone!
